“Stones, like us, stand at the intersection of countless lines crossing one another and receding to infinity, at the center of a field of forces too unpredictable to be measured; and we awkwardly call the result chance, hazard, or fate.” – Marguerite Yourcenar

These large-scale photographs of semi-precious stone slabs are meditations on the complex orchestration of time, force, labor, energy, capital, and desire embedded within them. Each image is constructed from approximately 40–60 high-resolution photographs, sutured together and presented at a 1:1 scale. These works are intended as an archive of and a requiem to these ancient formations—created over thousands to millions of years—that contain the history of the world.
