Modern Societies, 2021 (Excerpt)
Single-channel digital video, color, sound, 7 min. 26 sec.

Accompanied by Burial’s track “Nightmarket” (2016), Modern Societies is a single channel, time-based work created from still photographs of a constructed atmospheric landscape, evoking the tradition of still life and 17th-century Spanish bodegón. The landscape, modeled in salt dough, reflects on industrialization and the material histories embedded in the domestication of nature, encouraging viewers to consider how images shape our perception of the natural world.
